To me, that's the meaning of life. To be happy yourself and to make the ones around you happy as well. An appreciation of the simple things is part of it - like you said - job, family, friends - those are the things to be thankful for. The things that make life worth living. To cite my own life, I'm always the one that people come to in times of trouble. Recently, however, I've been through some pretty rough times, but all the happiness I've given to others is now coming back to me, to buoy me through the dark waters. More importantly, even through these dark times, ultimately I would still consider myself to be happy. There's a certain componant to true happiness that can only come from within. The trouble of cours is describing it, but I would say that there's an understanding of the beauty of life itself, and all the complexity surronding you. No matter how hard your life may seem at times, there's so much out there to enjoy. While your problems may seem big to you, in the grand scheme of things they're all pretty small. Ah happiness.
